US Visas

If you are considering emigrating from the UK to the US, you must first find the right visa that will meet your requirements. There are many different visas that apply to a wide range of categories and if you don’t choose the right one, it is highly likely that your application will be rejected.

The laws and regulations for US Immigration are quite strict and certain rules and procedures must be followed. One of the easier ways to gain a US visa is if you have a family member or spouse living in that country. You can also apply for a working visa as a highly skilled migrant, but to be in with a chance of having your application approved you will need to be sponsored by a prospective employer within the United States. Highly skilled migrants will need to show how they have excelled within their field and must also have a degree or equivalent professional qualification.

If you do not fit into either of these categories, there are other visas that will be more applicable to your needs. Religious workers and people contracted to work for the U.S. Government can also be granted immigration visas. Also worth considering is the Green Card Lottery, which is held every year and sees selected countries allocated a certain number of places. The closing date for registration is in November and winners are informed by post between May and July of the following year. Registering for the Green Card Lottery is free, but as with the other US visas, there are strict rules to follow during application.

What is the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP)

HSMP stands for Highly Skilled Migrant Programme, a scheme introduced in January 2002 designed to allow highly skilled workers to immigrate to the UK to look for a job or opportunities for self-employment. This scheme was started by the Services Limited, which provides services for immigrants who want to work in the United Kingdom.

HSMP Services Limited has a mission to help the Highly Skilled Migrant Community, providing proper relocation in the United Kingdom. They do their best to assist immigrants, starting with their application in the HSMP scheme, up to the time they start to work and settle down. The company offers products and services, which include special offers to help workers save money and time, and remove the stress in relocating their family to the country to start a new career.

HSMP Services Limited confirms the applicant’s success and gives them services and attention from the moment they arrive in the United Kingdom. The services offered by the company are divided into three parts. The first one is support on the pre-submission of the HSMP Application, which includes seminars, forums, and discounts. The second part involves the submission of the application, and the entry clearance where information can be obtained relating to the work the immigrants have chosen. And the last part is the services offered upon arrival in the country under the programme. It will cover the provision of certain information, such as locations of groceries, guidance on opening a bank account, and so on.

Workers under the HSMP need not worry about their future work in the United Kingdom, for the HSMP Services Limited will guide them in all sorts of things that they need.

Immigration and Visas

Filed under: Immigration Requirements,Visa Immigration,Work Permit — New Thirteen @ 11:13 am

First of all it might be useful to look at what exactly a Visa is, and why you need one if you’re immigrating to a different country. A Visa is a travel document used to travel to foreign countries, which allows you to enter into a country and stay there for a period of time. It is a separate document from your passport but the two would usually be kept together when you are on your travels.

Although when traveling to some countries you won’t need a Visa because of the agreements existing between them and the UK, many countries will require you to produce a Visa before you cross their border. These countries include the USA, South Africa, Canada, and Australia.

It’s worth noting however that Visas for these countries don’t just come in one set form – rather there are many different kinds of Visas you can apply for, depending on what you plan to do in the country and how long you plan to stay, among other factors.

Some of the most common forms of Visa for these countries are Working Holiday Visas, Family Visas, and Skilled Visas. Before planning your travel arrangements you will need to look into which Visa would be required for you in your circumstances, and apply for it as soon as possible. Nowadays it’s possible to apply for many types of Visa online – or of course there is still the option of sending your application off by post.

The further in advance you plan your travels, the more prepared you will feel – so it’s a good idea to start your Visa application as soon as you can.

How to obtain a Canadian work permit

Filed under: Canadian Immigration,Immigration Requirements,Work Permit — New Thirteen @ 3:24 pm

Even if you’ve been to Canada before for visits, or for temporary work, you’ll find that actually settling and living there will be an entirely new experience. Moving from the UK to Canada can be daunting; many people underestimate just how far away from home they’ll be, and just how small the UK is compared to the Canadian nation!

However there is plenty of help at hand both in the UK before you leave and in Canada when you get there. The Government of Canada offers an extensive program of services that will help you adjust to your new home.

For example you will be offered services to help you look for a job, a place to live, and a family doctor. Your local immigration service will also help you with getting your Social Insurance number, finding out about language training, and enrolling your children in school.

You’ll even be given comprehensive advice with regards to Canadian customs, such as local greetings, what is considered polite behaviour, and what social norms you can expect to encounter. All this will help you feel more at home in your new country, and may in time contribute to a decision to apply for Canadian citizenship.

Canada, which has a population of 31 million people, prides itself on its ethnic and cultural diversity. You’ll find while living there that you meet people from all kinds of different backgrounds, and will learn to integrate into a hugely multicultural country. Of course winter is another thing you’ll learn to enjoy – most of Canada exists in sub-zero temperatures for several months of the year.

Immigration and Visas

There are countless reasons why a person might want to immigrate to a different country. Perhaps they want to try a new way of life, or to sample the different cultures that the world has to offer. Perhaps they want to try working in a different nation, or studying in an entirely new environment.

Whatever the driving force behind your decision to immigrate, it’s vital to find out about how immigration works and what services are available to you. It’s worth planning your date of travel well in advance so that you have time to discover all there is to know about living and working in your chosen new country.

If you are planning to immigrate to Australia, South Africa, Canada or the USA, there are plenty of things to do before you leave. Of course one of the first things you’ll need to do is to find out about each country’s respective immigration policies, and make sure you can comply with them.

For example if you intend to immigrate to Australia you will need to obtain an Australian Visa. This can be applied for online, and you’ll have to undergo an assessment which will help determine your suitability for living and working in Australia.

Likewise if you want to move to South Africa, Canada, or the USA you will have to obtain the necessary Visa; and for each you will be assessed with regards to why you intend to immigrate to your chosen country. Much of the reason behind these Visa assessments is to find out what kind of skills you have and what you can bring to the country, if you do decide to work there.

Working in Australia

Filed under: Australia Work Visa,Immigration Requirements,Work Permit — New Thirteen @ 3:28 pm

You may decide to immigrate to Australia for many reasons. If you are moving there to work, there is a lot of support available to facilitate your settling in the country.

For example you might have recognised skills and have been sponsored by an employer in the UK to work in Australia. Or, you may be visiting the country on business grounds – perhaps to start a business there, or help one grow.

Whatever the reason behind your decision to live and work in Australia, you will need to undergo certain clearance checks. One of these checks is called a ‘character requirement’ and involves an assessment to determine if you are of good character. Similarly you will need to meet certain health requirements which will involve having a health examination to determine your medical needs.

As well as your Australian Visa, you may need other travel documents for entering the country that prove your identity and nationality. These will include your passport and a signed Incoming Passenger Card. A Passenger Card is a document required by Australian law that will provide a record of when you enter and leave Australia.

If your reason for going to Australia is more of a temporary one, for example if you are on a Working Holiday, slightly different rules will apply. Still you will have to obtain a Visa that gives you the legal right to work in Australia. The Australian Government make it clear that working in the country is a right, not a privilege.

Applying for a South African Visa

Filed under: Immigration Requirements,South Africa Visas,Visa Immigration — New Thirteen @ 3:54 pm

Like any other country in the world, South Africa is very strict when it comes to foreign nationals entering the country. They are required to do a lot of things, such as obtain a South African visa which every immigrant must possess.

There are a lot of permits that can be acquired by those migrating to South Africa, such as business, spousal, corporate, student, work, retired, life partner, and relatives’ permits. It requires a lot of screening before anyone can hold a South African visa. Migrants should apply for the visa through the South African representatives that are based in any of the countries around the world.

In applying, migrants should be able to fulfil all the requirements needed, such as passport, payment of prescribed fees, and vaccination certificate. The South African mission or representative needs the original passport of the person applying for the visa. However, they also accept applications filed by third parties, such as immigration practitioners, travel agents, or courier services. About $47 or €43 will be needed for payment of the application visa fee. The processing of the application takes about 10 days; however, it is wise to ask the South African mission or representative how long it will take to process. Aside from using the South African visa as an important document in entering the country, it can also be used for the migrants to receive medical treatment in South Africa.

Completing all the requirements that are required for the application for a South African visa is a must to be able to legally enter the country. If any discrepancy is found when the migrant arrives, he/she will almost certainly be deported to his/her country of origin.

Moving to the United States of America

When you’ve made the decision to settle in the USA you may want to know more about what it will be like to live across the Atlantic Ocean. Perhaps you’ve been to the country often and are familiar with the lifestyle, or have only visited on occasion and are more familiar with the way America is portrayed in film and on TV.

Even if you consider yourself an experienced traveller of the United States, actually living there permanently will still come as something of a shock for most. As close as the UK and USA are to each other (culturally rather than geographically) the fact remains that the USA is a different country and you are likely to find that a different way of life applies.

So how can you make sure that you’re as prepared as possible? First, it’ll be a good idea to read up on the USA as much as possible. This should go further than travel guides – read about the country’s history, its geography, its political figures. Find out what makes each State different and unique, and how the States came to be unified. It might be worthwhile going to the library and digging out as much fiction and non-fiction as you can about the American way of life.

Of course applying for your Visa as soon as possible, getting your vaccinations, and researching where and how you will live when you get to the USA are all important. Preparing yourself as much as possible for the adventure of US immigration will mean you can enjoy it even more when you do arrive – and will mean that you settle into your new life more easily.

Canadian Visa application

Thousands of people immigrate to Canada every year, from all over the world. If you’ve decided that Canada is the place for you, there are a few things you’ll want to consider.

The Canadian Citizenship and Immigration service delineates the main groups of people who move to Canada, so take a look through the list and see where you fit in:

  • Skilled workers and professionals who want to settle and work in Canada
  • People selected by the Quebec government to settle and work in Canada
  • People who have recent experience of working in Canada and wish to remain living and working there
  • Investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people who want to start a business in Canada
  • People who have been nominated by a Canadian province or territory to settle and work there
  • People who currently live in Canada who have a family member wishing to join them.

When you know which group you fit in you’ll have to find out the specific requirements for applying for the corresponding Visa. For example if you are a skilled worker and want to move to Canada, this will generally be because you have relevant work experience, education, and a good knowledge of English and French. These will all help you to settle and succeed in Canada.

As part of your Canadian Visa application you’ll have to fill out a number of forms providing information on your background, skills, and family, plus undergo medical, criminal, and other background checks. These will all help the Canadian Immigration Services to establish your suitability for living and working in their country.

Types of Australian visas

Filed under: Australia Work Visa,Immigration Requirements,Visa Immigration — New Thirteen @ 2:39 pm

Skilled workers can work and live in Australia by having a skilled immigration visa. Under the Australian General Skilled Migration programme, workers and migrants that are highly skilled can apply using their work experience, language ability, and other qualifications to pass the requirements for Australian immigration and obtain a permanent visa.

The programme, called General Skilled Migration, is for people without a sponsor, but who have the skills for various occupations that are needed to fill the labour shortages in Australia. Individuals who want to apply must be 18 to 45 years of age and speak English. Recent experience in their skilled work is also required, as well as an Australian eligibility requirements, and qualifications for one of the jobs in the Skilled Occupation List.

Recently, changes have been made in the General Skilled Migration programme involving the additional points that are awarded to migrants who show excellent English skills. The changes also include the reduction of 15 visa subclasses to only nine subclasses. These subclasses of visas are organised into offshore and onshore categories, and divided into independent and sponsored sub-categories. Onshore visas are applicable for individuals who are already in Australia who have an eligible visa to pass the requirements for the program. Offshore visas are available for people to obtain a permanent visa from abroad to work as a skilled migrant in the country.

The sponsored sub-categories of visas are for individuals sponsored by a relative who are already living in Australia. This type of visa has additional requirements, and in some cases a payment for a bond must be made.

The immigration process in Australia follows regulations that are quite similar to other countries. There are certain rules that should be followed to ensure that only skilled workers and eligible persons will enter the country.
